CHAIRS
Ian Hill curated an exhibition by asking a group of artists to respond to the quote- “What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity, devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter, an art which could be for every mental worker, for the businessman as well as the man of letters, for example, a soothing, calming influence on the mind, something like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.” — Henri Matisse, “Notes from a Painter,” La Grande Revue, LII, 24, 25, December 1908, My response was that if my art was an easy chair I would be concerned it might bite me in the arse.
Working on pieces for Ian Hill’s Exhibition drew me into the world of chairs
