BOB SLOAN is one of the most interesting and inventive artists of his generation working in Ireland. The main characteristics of his work are playfulness and inventiveness and hence much of it evokes a sense of humour. For him the observer of his art becomes part of the process of creation. ‘Art has to extend outside the material in which the art object is made; it lies between the [art] object and the viewer’.

Former Head of Fine and Applied Art, Ulster Museum.
